Most people know what archery is! However, they generally think of a line of archers in a nicely manicured, level field all shooting at colourful targets in front of them. They’d be right but field archery is very different. Field archery was developed to simulate, as close as possible, actual hunting with bow and arrow – but without real animals.
Although I practise bushcraft, survival and primitive skills, I am also an enthusiastic field archer.
The following is a humorous video entitled ‘What is Field Archery?’ that I created for the benefit of those interested in finding out more about it. Have a look. Perhaps you’ll want to take up the sport too and add it to your bushcraft or prepping skill-set. Please note that hunting with bow and arrow in the UK is illegal.
