The Wilderness Gathering is the original festival of bushcraft, survival and primitive living skills in the UK, having taken place since 2003. It takes place at Bush Farm Bison Centre, West Knoyle in Wiltshire from Thursday 15thto Sunday 18thAugust.

A social event
It has become a social event which brings together families and friends. Aimed at all those interested in Bushcraft and Wilderness living skills, the gathering can be enjoyed over four days. The focus is of knowledge sharing in a relaxed and family friendly atmosphere.
Loads going on
There’s loads going on at the Gathering. From spoon carving to deer gralloch, herb walks to water purification, bronze casting to preserving fish there’s something for everyone! There are also some fantastic presentations taking place on stage. For example, Jon McArthur discusses why bushcraft training is so important in ensuring safe outcomes in Alberta’s Boreal Forest. Furthermore, Di wood explains barefoot self reliance off-grid and Tom Linden describes magnetic pole reversal and its implications.

Sign up for a Masterclass
However, if you want more than a presentation and a demonstration, you can actively participate in a masterclass. These are bookable in advance and are extra to the admission charge. Choose from some great activities including navigation in the wilderness, nuclear survival or make a spruce bark basket. And, of course, there’s live music on the Friday and Saturday evenings to relax or dance away to.

Traders
For those looking to buy something specific to bushcraft, survival or primitive skills, there’s a wonderful host of traders selling their wares. Alternatively, many of the traders will give you the opportunity to learn or develop skills.
